It gives you more ways to build a riff, voice a chord, and shape a song. The AKLOT Planion 8-String Multiscale Electric Guitar brings deep, percussive low-register rhythms and expressive high-register playing onto the same fretboard. Build syncopated grooves around the lowest string, anchor a chord with a deeper bass note, or move from a crushing rhythm part into a melodic lead. For players moving beyond six or seven strings, the Planion opens up new territory while keeping the familiar upper-string range available for everything you already play.

An eighth string should add depth, not disappear into a muddy low end. The Planion’s 25.5"–27.5" multiscale fanned-fret design pairs a longer 27.5" bass side with a familiar 25.5" treble side. At the same pitch and string gauge, the longer bass-side scale provides greater tension than a shorter scale, giving the lowest strings firmer picking resistance and helping fast, palm-muted patterns stay more defined. That extra control matters when your eighth string carries the pulse of a breakdown or the accents in a tightly syncopated riff. Meanwhile, the shorter treble side maintains a familiar feel for bends, vibrato, and lead phrasing. The factory-fitted 10–74 string set provides a substantial low-string feel without applying the longer scale across every string.

With eight strings, power matters—but hearing the individual notes matters just as much. The Planion’s dual high-output humbuckers deliver aggressive bite for bone-crushing low-register riffs and searing leads, with a focused attack that helps intricate passages retain their definition under distortion. The lowest string can drive the rhythm without turning every phrase into an indistinct wall of sound. A 3-way pickup selector takes you beyond a single heavy tone: choose the bridge for sharp, percussive attack, combine both humbuckers for blended chord textures and atmospheric cleans, or switch to the neck for warmer, fuller melodic passages. Master volume and tone controls make it straightforward to shape those sounds as your playing moves between heavy rhythms, open passages, and leads.

More range should encourage you to explore the whole neck, not keep you anchored to the lowest frets. The five-piece roasted maple and purpleheart neck provides a stable foundation for moving between low-string rhythms, wide-interval phrases, and upper-register melodies. Its 16" fingerboard radius offers a flatter playing surface for wide bends and flowing lead work, while 24 frets keep the high register within reach. Explore cross-string runs, two-handed tapping, or phrases that connect a low bass note with a melody several strings above it. The advantage is not simply having more notes—it is having more ways to connect them.

The fixed hardtail bridge keeps setup straightforward, without the spring-tension balancing required by a floating tremolo when changing tunings. On an eight-string, that gives you a practical platform for exploring how different low-string tunings change the weight and movement of your riffs. A dual-action truss rod allows neck-relief adjustments as part of setting up the guitar for your preferred feel. The 10–74 string set is a starting point, not a restriction: different tunings and picking styles may call for different gauges and setup adjustments, giving you room to find the balance that works for your playing.

But the eighth string does not have to be the loudest part of every song. Use it to place a deeper root beneath chord tones on the higher strings, alternate low bass notes with an upper-string melody, or add a single low accent that changes the direction of a phrase. Keeping the bass foundation and higher chord tones in separate registers opens up arrangements that are about space and contrast, not just heaviness. From djent and progressive metal to ambient passages and clean chord-melody ideas, the extended range gives you more choices about what to play—and what to leave out.

Available in Metallic Gold and Vintage Veneer, the AKLOT Planion pairs a distinctive visual identity with an instrument built for exploring beyond familiar boundaries.
